Vice-Premier Liu Yandong attended the 11th Special Book Award of China and honored 20 foreign language experts who made contributions to introducing Chinese culture to the world in Beijing on Aug 22.
During the ceremony, Liu spoke highly of the prize winners’ dedication to enhancing the world’s understanding of Chinese history, political system and culture while promoting the mutual development and exchanges of Chinese culture and the culture from other countries.
In addition, besides traditional Chinese culture, she also urged foreign experts should extend their work to cover an increasing number of modern Chinese books and novels to further present modern Chinese culture and civilization to the world, in an effort to better connect China with the world from the cultural perspective.
