On Oct 19, Zhang Gaoli joined the delegation of Shaanxi province to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to discuss the report delivered by Xi Jinping at the opening session in Beijing.

He said Xi’s report answered a series of questions on the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in a new era, clarified the plans and strategies of the Party and the country. It is also a political declaration and action plan for the Party to step into a new era.

After hearing speeches from the delegates, Zhang said the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi as the core has helped the Party and the country reach historic achievements and development since the 18th Party Congress, which showed the superiority and strong vitality of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era builds on and further enriches Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Theory of Three Represents, and the Scientific Outlook on Development, and it must be studied, understood and put into practice in a steadfast manner, in order to break new ground in the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, according to Zhang.

He stressed the development concepts of innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing to deepen China’s supply-side structural reform, focus on key areas, make up shortages, strengthen weak links and win the battle against high risks, poverty and pollution, ensuring the work of building China into a moderately prosperous society by 2020.

Zhang also called on deepening all-around reform, insisting on people-centered thought, starting a new journey toward a modern country with Chinese characteristics, and building China into a prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful socialist country by the middle of this century.
