Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua, during his inspection tour in Northwest China’s Gansu province March 23 to 25, pressed for an all-around implementation of the latest government work report and promoting the poverty alleviation campaign.

Amid field investigations and inquiries in local villages, Hu presided over symposia at the prefecture, county, township and village level. He emphasized the local government should lay the groundwork for the targeted poverty alleviation project and have all fundamental arrangements well in place.

Rural industries and construction should forge ahead at full speed, and farmers’ initiative should be brought into full play, said Hu.

Additionally, Hu urged increasing fiscal funding for poverty reduction and strengthening fund administration and use, calling for more effort in rural grassroots cadres as well as personnel training.
