BEIJING — Vice-Premier Han Zheng on June 1 called for efforts to make breakthroughs in coordinating the development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Han, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of a leading group for the region’s coordinated development, made the remarks while addressing a meeting of the leading group.
Han specified relocating Beijing’s noncapital functions in an orderly manner as the priority for the coordinated development of the region, and said while focusing on this priority, breakthroughs should be made.
He demanded efforts to make breakthroughs in the planning and development of Xiongan New Area and Beijing’s sub-center, as well as enhancing environmental protection with a focus on the goal of blue skies.
He also urged breakthroughs to be made in infrastructure construction with a focus on integrating the regional traffic network.
Efforts should be made to ensure better implementation and enforcement of policies, Han said.
