Vice-premier meets Singaporean guest on deepening cooperation

BEIJING — Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam on March 25, with both sides eying closer cooperation in jointly building the Belt and Road and in other fields.

China and Singapore enjoy sound development momentum in bilateral ties, as evidenced by close high-level exchanges, ever-deepening political mutual trust, fruitful pragmatic cooperation, and vibrant and varied people-to-people and cultural exchanges, according to Sun.

Noting that China highly values the development of Sino-Singaporean ties, Sun said China was ready to work with Singapore in deepening cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, expanding exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as education, culture and tourism, as well as stepping up experience exchanges related to ensuring people’s well-being, to promote greater advancement of bilateral relations.

The Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister said Singapore attaches importance to developing friendly cooperation with China, and is willing to take part in building the Belt and Road and to deepen bilateral cooperation in education, medical care and social governance, among others.
