Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, attended the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Education which opened in Beijing on May 16.

Sun read a congratulatory letter from President Xi Jinping and delivered a speech.

“President Xi Jinping’s words expounded the revolutionary influence of artificial intelligence on education, and put forward a proposal to promote education innovation in the intelligent age and to build a community with a shared future for mankind, giving us more confidence and motivation to build a consensus and deepen cooperation with the international community,” Sun said.

The Chinese government pays great attention to the integration of AI and education, as well as education informatization, with digital teaching resources covering all forms of education at all levels, and enriched intelligence-based teaching, learning and management methods, manifesting important progress in education modernization, she added.

In the future, China will actively employ modern technology to promote education equity and improve education quality, and will pursue innovative educational concepts, teaching methods and management modes, Sun promised.

“We will also try to create a learner-centered intelligent teaching environment to achieve the dynamic integration of large-scale educational programs and personalized training, and to cultivate an innovative spirit and enhance practical ability among talent of all kinds,” she added.

It is a common opportunity and challenge faced by the world to promote the integration of AI and education, Sun said, adding that China will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with other countries, deepen the collaborative innovation of intelligent education, promote the joint training of high-end AI talent, and strengthen intellectual property protection to share the development dividends of intelligence education.
