BEIJING — Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua on July 16 stressed making solid efforts to prepare for the hosting of the 46th WorldSkills Competition.
With regular epidemic prevention and control measures in place, solid progress should be made in all the preparations to make the event innovative and influential, Hu said during a meeting of a leading group of the event.
The success of the 46th WorldSkills Competition will be of great significance in promoting the upgrade of workers' skills and China's high-quality economic development, Hu said.
Shanghai, as the host city, should advance its solid and meticulous preparations, including disease prevention and control, to ensure the event will be a full success, he said.
The WorldSkills Competition, known as the "Olympics" for vocational skills, is held every two years. China topped the gold medal tally with 16 gold medals at the 45th WorldSkills Competition held in Kazan, Russia, in August 2019.
