China to hunt scam websites imitating exam authorities
Updated: July 19, 2019 22:07 Xinhua

BEIJING — A new campaign has been launched to crack down on fake or scam websites or social network accounts pretending to represent provincial-level exam authorities, according to the Ministry of Education (MOE) on July 19.

Jointly launched by the MOE, as well as the cyberspace and public security agencies, the campaign came after public complaints on such websites and accounts publishing false or fraudulent information on the college entrance exam.

Operators of major social network platforms were asked to shoulder responsibilities in strengthening supervision over relevant accounts, while search engines were ordered to put the links of official exam authorities on top of search results in response to relevant queries.

A list of official websites and social media accounts of 31 provincial-level exam authorities on the Chinese mainland were also published by the MOE.
