BEIJING — Eighteen patients of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on May 12, the National Health Commission said on May 13.

Altogether 78,189 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by the end of May 12, the commission said in its daily report.

As of May 12, 82,926 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, and 4,633 people had died of the disease.
