BEIJING — The wholesale prices of China's agricultural products edged up on July 17, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The latest China agricultural product wholesale price index came in at 116.13, up 0.09 points from July 16.
By 2 pm on July 17, the average wholesale price of pork, a staple meat in China, went down 0.6 percent to 48.53 yuan (about $6.93) per kg, while eggs rose 1.2 percent to 6.65 yuan per kg.
The average wholesale price of 28 key types of vegetables and six different types of fruits tracked by the government both fell 0.7 percent from July 16.
The wholesale price index is compiled from data collected from around 200 agricultural wholesale markets and is updated daily based on the weighted average of price indices for goods including vegetables, fruit, aquatic products, livestock products, cereals, and edible vegetable oil.
