BEIJING — The National Health Commission said on Sept 18 that eight COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Sept 17.

There were 165 patients still being treated, the commission said in its daily report.

Altogether 80,456 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by Sept 17, the report said.

As of Sept 17, a total of 85,255 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, among whom 4,634 died of the disease.
