BEIJING — The National Health Commission said on Oct 1 that 16 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Oct 1.

There were 186 patients still being treated, the commission said in its daily report.

Altogether 80,594 patients had been cured and discharged from hospitals by Sept 30, the report said.

As of Sept 30, a total of 85,414 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, among whom 4,634 died of the disease.
