BEIJING — Twenty-eight COVID-19 patients were newly discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland on Jan 12, the National Health Commission said in a daily report on Jan 13.

There were 784 confirmed cases still being treated, including 21 in severe conditions, the report showed.

As of Jan 12, the Chinese mainland had reported a total of 87,706 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of whom 82,288 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 4,634 died of the disease.
