BEIJING — Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met with Yvan Blondin, the visiting commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force, on Nov 24, with both vowing to enhance bilateral military relations.

Commenting on the positive momentum of their ties, Chang said progress has been made in cooperation on defense education, military laws, human resource management and mutual visits by warships.

China attached importance to developing cooperation with Canadian armed forces, the minister said. He stressed that the Chinese military is willing to boost ties with the Canadian side on the basis of “equality, moderation and sustainability.”

Blondin said Canada has a positive outlook toward enhancing exchanges and coordination between the two militaries, particularly between their air forces. He expressed hope that his visit could further promote the relations.
