MUNICH — Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Feb 6 called on relevant countries in Asia to properly resolve differences and disputes through dialogue and consultation.

China maintains that relevant countries should, on the basis of respecting the international law and history, properly address differences and disputes via dialogue and consultation, so as to further enhance peace, stability and prosperity in Asia, Yang said in a speech delivered at the opening ceremony of the 51st Munich Security Conference.

“We will work together with relevant countries to build a future-oriented Asia-Pacific partnership and fulfill the Asia-Pacific dream of common development, prosperity and progress,” he said.

China is committed to building friendship and partnership with its neighbors and practicing the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness. China has strengthened friendly and cooperative ties with other Asian countries, he said.

Asia, East Asia in particular, has maintained overall stability and a momentum of fast growth in recent years. The region has emerged as one of the most dynamic and promising regions in the world, he said.

Yang also spoke of high-level exchanges that China has conducted with almost all Asian countries. For many of the Asian countries, China has become their largest trading partner, biggest export market and important source of investment, Yang said, adding that more than 30 million visits are made between the Chinese and people of other countries in Asia each year.
