Guo Shengkun, State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, met with Tsang Wai-hung, Commissioner of the Hong Kong Police Force, in Beijing on Feb 14.

Guo said the Hong Kong Police Force has fully implemented the principle of “One Country, Two Systems,” as well as the basic laws of the Special Administrative Region.

He also said the Police Force plays an important role in ensuring the well-being of Hong Kong residents and the stability of the SAR.

Additionally, the Chinese mainland public security authorities expect to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Hong Kong Police Force, including tackling cases together, mutual visits and training - so as to jointly safeguard the long-standing prosperity and stability of the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong SAR.

Tsang said the Hong Kong Police Force is ready to work with public security authorities in the Chinese mainland, make full use of platforms such as the annual meeting mechanism, consistently expand the scope - and improve the level - of cooperation, and make a greater contribution to the rule of law and long-term prosperity and stability of both sides.
