State councilor: China and India need to strengthen mutual trust

State Councilor and Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met with Indian Defense Secretary Shri R.K. Mathur, in Beijing on April 10.

Mathur was in Beijing to attend the 7th China-India Defense and Security Consultation on April 10.

Chang said that China is committed to seeking new progress in the two countries’ strategic partnership, and hopes that the militaries of both countries will implement consensus reached by leaders of the two countries.

He hoped that the two countries will appropriately manage and control divergence, strengthen strategic mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and make positive contribution in terms of maintaining peace and stability within the region, as well as in the world.

Mathur said that India is willing to actively implement consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries.

The country will also promote high-level military exchanges with China, jointly conduct military drills and trainings, and exchange and cooperate in professional fields, Mathur said.
