State councilor meets S. African police minister

BEIJING -- State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun met with South African Police Minister Nathi Nhleko on April 27.

Guo said the two sides should deepen cooperation on cases of cross-border crime, drug trafficking and fugitive suspects.

Guo said the Chinese side is concerned about the recent unrest in South Africa. He expressed the hope that South Africa would continue to take measures to protect the security and interests of Chinese citizens and institutes in the country.

Nhleko expressed readiness to deepen exchanges with China and to lift the level of cooperation on security and law enforcement.

Nhleko is in Beijing on the first annual exchange of visits by police chiefs of the two countries.
