State Councilor Guo Shengkun meets Tajik president

Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun called for cooperation between China and Tajikistan in addressing regional security threats to promote bilateral strategic partnership and jointly build the Silk Road Economic Belt.

He made the remarks on June 5 when meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon in the capital city Dushanbe on the sidelines of a meeting of the interior, public security ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states.

Guo, also a state councilor, delivered President Xi Jinping’s greetings to Rakhmon and said China is willing to deepen enforcement and security cooperation with Tajikistan.

Rakhmon asked Guo to convey his good wishes to Xi and said his country is willing to participate in the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and increase bilateral exchanges.

He also expressed support for the fight against criminal activities such as terrorism and drug trafficking in both countries.
