State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun called for the building of a standardized and high-quality police force at a meeting on June 12.

He said the police force should hold a firm belief to safeguard security, be honest and ready to take responsibilities and enforce laws according to the interests of the people.

He also urged them to safeguard social stability, equity and justice and ensure that people can work and live in peace and contentment.

The standardization of the police force should focus on building a loyal force and improving its quality and ability, according to a statement of the meeting.

There also was a call — for scientific, strict, centralized and standardized management of the police force.
