State Councilor and Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun said that duties concerning public security reform should be fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner and with the highest standards.

Guo made the comments during a meeting in Beijing on July 13. Participants listened to a report concerning the overall progress of the public security reform in the first half of the year, and discussed and planned tasks for the reform for the rest of 2015.

The participants also said that police assistance plays a positive role in helping the police to maintain public order.

However, the members of the public whose work supports the police also face various problems, and efforts should be made to supervise these members of the public, officials attending the meeting said.

The participants also stressed the importance of the administrative reform of public security and fire departments, and said information should be made public - and overseen by the public.

The participants also requested that the Internet should be fully utilized to build a comprehensive service management platform for the public - and added that measures to deal with income from illegal activity should be strengthened.
