State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Mogens Lykketoft, president of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly, on Oct 28. Lykketoft has been on a four-day visit in Beijing since Oct 26.

“The series of summits that commemorated the 70th anniversary of the UN has produced many achievements, which will have huge impact on reinforcing the future role of the UN and guiding the evolution of international relations,” Yang said.

China will continue to support the UN General Assembly to implement what was achieved during the summits, he said.

Lykketoft said he appreciated China’s positive role in UN affairs, and called for closer collaboration with China.
