State councilor meets former president of Tanzania in Beijing

State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Benjamin Mkapa, chairman of the board of the South Centre and former president of Tanzania, in Beijing on Nov 10.

Yang said that as a key think tank of developing countries, the South Centre plays an important role in promoting South-to-South and enhancing South-to-North cooperation.

China attaches great importance to the South Centre’s support for developing countries’ participation in international cooperation, and is willing to make joint efforts to continue communications on crucial international issues, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and help achieve common prosperity in developing countries, he said.

According to Mkapa, the South Centre is glad to increase cooperation with China, and make contributions to achieve goals in the 2030 Agenda.
