State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun on Nov 25 urged reinforced efforts in beefing up intelligence to help fight terrorism.

Guo made the remarks at a meeting after his inspection visit to the national anti-terrorism intelligence platform. He said the effective operation of the platform for the past year has provided a series of early warnings, which have helped nip most terrorist activities in the bud.

“However, the severe counter-terrorism situation home and abroad, for example, the Paris attacks, have raised new demands for our intelligence work,” Guo said.

Describing intelligence work as “a top priority of counter-terrorism”, Guo called for the adoption of high technology such as big data and cloud computing to improve the platform’s capability in detection, analysis and judgment.

“We should be able to find terror-related clues in time among an ocean of people, goods, information and capital flows, and integrate such crucial information into the platform,” he said.
