State Councilor Wang Yong delivered a speech at a publishing symposium held in Beijing on May 12 marking the Wenchuan earthquake.

Wang said that the books are the first monographic record focusing on a massive natural disaster and edited on a national level since the founding of new China. It records the massive Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 from an objective perspective, and elaborates on the whole course of disaster relief and reconstruction in the area.

Wang stressed the need for further research and summarizing related experiences, improving the emergency mechanism, monitoring and alarming system.

The bibliography contains 11 volumes and around 14 million words.
