Wang made the remarks at a disaster-relief event in Beijing on May 12, which marks China’s eighth Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day.

He called for a scientific assessment of the potential risks for urban disasters, taking disaster prevention into consideration for city planning and management.
Wang then urged improving the construction of urban infrastructure, lifeline projects and fortifying key construction projects and venues.
He also encouraged all circles of society to actively participate in disaster prevention and relief, forging consolidated strength in creating a safe city environment.
