Wang Yi, state councilor and foreign minister, held talks with his Indian counterpart, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, on April 22 in Beijing.

“China-India relations have taken on an upward momentum since the beginning of this year,” Wang said.

As the leaders of the two countries will hold an unofficial meeting, the two sides should take this opportunity to enhance trust and cooperation, properly deal with divergence, and strive for joint development, he added.

Swaraj said that India is willing to deepen the friendship between the leaders and promote mutual trust of the two countries in order to lift their strategic cooperation partnership to a higher level.
