State councilor meets Myanmar’s Sen-Gen Min Aung Hlaing

NAY PYI TAW — State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi met with Myanmar’s Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Sen-Gen Min Aung Hlaing in Nay Pyi Taw on May 9.

Zhao said during the meeting that the holding of the 19th Communist Party of China National Congress and annual sessions of the National People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference not only bears significance to China’s development but also brings opportunities for other countries including Myanmar.

Zhao expressed support to Myanmar’s efforts in maintaining national sovereignty and dignity, and in its peace process.

Zhao said that the China-Myanmar cooperation in law-enforcement and security areas is important for maintaining security and stability for both countries, and China is willing to further strengthen cooperation in security of projects of the Belt and Road Initiative, and to deepen cooperation against drug-related crimes, so as to jointly maintain the border security and stability.

Min Aung Hlaing, for his part, said Myanmar is willing to join hands with China to promote the traditional friendship between the two sides, deepen pragmatic cooperation on law-enforcement, including security of projects of the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation against drug-related crimes, maintain border security and stability, and push for the continued development of the bilateral relationship.
