BEIJING — State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel on July 11.
“The two sides should consolidate strategic mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote more achievements in various areas,” Wang said.
He also called for strengthening bilateral people-to-people exchanges.
Messahel said Algeria was ready to implement current projects under the Belt and Road framework, and would boost cooperation with China in such areas as industry, trade and infrastructure construction.
“Algeria welcomes more investments and more tourists from China,” Messahel said.
The two sides both agreed that “under the current situation, the international community should insist multilateralism, firmly safeguard international order and rule, and jointly oppose unilateralism as well as economic hegemony.”
The two sides also signed three documents, including a mutual visa-free agreement for diplomatic and service passports holders.
Messahel was in Beijing to attend the eighth ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum held on July 10.
