UNITED NATIONS — China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference, and expects other countries to do the same, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in United Nations on Sept 26 in response to US allegations of China “attempting to interfere in” the 2018 midterm elections.

Non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries is a tradition of China’s foreign policy, which has won widespread praise from the international community, Wang said.

“We did not, do not and will not interfere in the internal affairs of any country, and we don’t accept any groundless accusations made against China,” he said.

“We also urge other countries to follow the principles of the United Nations Charter, which forbids interference in any nation’s internal affairs,” he said.
