State councilor meets Bangladeshi PM on bilateral ties

DHAKA — Visiting State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi met with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka on Oct 25.

Zhao conveyed the cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to the prime minister.

He said that President Xi Jinping paid a historic visit to Bangladesh in 2016 and unanimously decided with Prime Minister Hasina to upgrade China-Bangladesh relations into a strategic partnership of cooperation and opened a new chapter in China-Bangladesh friendship.

China is willing to work with Bangladesh to implement the consensus of the leaders of the two countries, strengthen the docking of the development strategy, expand cooperation in various fields, jointly promote the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen pragmatic cooperation in anti-terrorism, combating cybercrimes and transnational crimes.

The pragmatic cooperation will continuously enrich the content of China-Bangladesh strategic partnership of cooperation and better benefit the two countries and the two peoples, said Zhao.

Hasina during the talks asked Zhao Kezhi to convey her cordial greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

She said that Bangladesh highly appreciates China’s development achievements and is willing to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative construction, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields, continuously deepen law enforcement security cooperation, and promote the continued development of bilateral relations.

During the visit, Zhao Kezhi will also hold talks with Bangladeshi Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
