State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa in Beijing on April 29.

Wang said China and Uruguay are strategic partners and both sides always understand, trust and support each other, achieving new consensus in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative.

China is willing to work with Uruguay to fulfill the outcomes of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, and will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, Wang said.

Nin Novoa said the Uruguay side has always supported the initiative, and is also glad to further participate in the building process and expand bilateral cooperation in all fields.

The two sides signed an extradition treaty between China and Uruguay after the meeting.
