Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic met with State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi in Zagreb, capital of Croatia, on May 16.
Zhao extended President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang’s best greetings and wishes to Plenkovic, noting that the friendship between the two countries has a long history.
He said that under the strategic guide of both leaders, cooperation between the two countries has been proceeding steadily in various fields, adding that China is willing to work with Croatia to deepen coordination between their development strategies in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and promoting cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
Zhao also called for enhanced cooperation in fighting terrorism, cracking down on cross-border crimes and ensuring the security of building BRI to bring more benefits to both peoples.
Plenkovic asked Zhao to convey his greetings and wishes to President Xi and Premier Li, and said Croatia has been paying great attention to BRI, with active participation in the initiative.
Croatia welcomes Chinese companies and citizens, and is glad to enhance cooperation with China in various fields to contribute to the progress of China-EU relations.
Zhao also held talks with Croatian Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic on May 16.
