Serbia to enhance comprehensive pragmatic cooperation with China

BELGRADE — Serbia will enhance comprehensive pragmatic cooperation with China, including in the areas of law enforcement and security, to advance bilateral relations to new levels, according to President Aleksandar Vucic.

Vucic made the remarks on May 18 during his meeting with visiting State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi.

Zhao conveyed President Xi Jinping’s good wishes to President Vucic, saying that the important consensus reached by the two presidents during the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation has pointed the way for the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership of the two countries.

China is willing to work with Serbia, with the guidance of the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, to strengthen practical cooperation in fighting transnational crimes, enhancing security capacity for the Belt and Road construction, to create a safe and stable environment for bilateral cooperation, for the benefits of the two countries and two peoples.

The president asked Zhao to convey his cordial greetings and sincere wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying that their meeting in Beijing last month will give a strong boost to the all-around development of bilateral relations.

Serbia firmly supports the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and will actively participate in it, said Vucic, adding that Serbia is willing to learn from China’s development experiences.

During his visit, Zhao also met with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic.
