Reflecting on how the Chinese and American people fought together in World War II is important for building a new model of China-US relationship, Vice-Premier Liu Yandong said when she met Major General James Whitehead Jr., president of the Flying Tiger Historical Organization.

She made the comments at the opening ceremony of a heritage park commemorating the Flying Tigers, in Guilin, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on March 28.

Liu also said she hopes that China and the United States will expand their communication and cooperation and make a greater contribution to maintaining world peace.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
