Vice-premier pledges closer environmental co-op with Sweden

BEIJING — Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli met Swedish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate and Environment Asa Romson on April 10, pledging closer cooperation with Sweden on environmental protection.

Zhang hailed the rapid growth of China-Sweden ties in recent years, citing enhanced political trust, trade links and fruitful cooperation in countering climate change and environmental protection.

China attaches great importance to environmental protection, Zhang said, urging closer cooperation with Sweden in this regard to contribute to sustainable world development and global efforts to counter climate change.

As this year marks the 65th anniversary of China-Sweden diplomatic ties, Zhang vowed joint efforts with Sweden to deepen win-win cooperation and boost new progress.

Romson said Sweden valued cooperation with China, vowing to facilitate cooperation in climate change, environmental protection and other areas.
