Vice-Premier Ma Kai on May 14 attended the 33rd Meeting of the Central Bank Governors’ Club of Central Asia, Black Sea Region and Balkan Countries in Shanghai.
Ma said that China has deep friendship with countries of the region, with close political, economic and financial ties as well as collaboration in various fields.
He said that China and the region are at similar development phases, and have strengths in different fields. There are many favorable conditions as well as new challenges for cooperation as China pushes ahead with the “One Belt and One Road” initiative; and also for enhancing cooperation with central and east European countries, he added.
Ma stressed that the People’s Bank of China has had effective cooperation with other central banks since joining the club in 2011 and that China is willing to deepen financial cooperation with other members.
The club was established in 1998 and holds two meetings every year and it is the first time that China has hosted the meeting. Representatives from 24 countries attended the meeting.
