Vice-premier Liu Yandong stressed the importance of improving vocational education at a seminar on reforming China’s vocational education system.

Liu said the country should attach more importance and offer more support to vocational education, and it should focus on innovation regarding its system to nurture talent - which will help develop more hardworking, professional, honest and creative talent.

Liu encouraged enterprises to take part in vocational education and open their own vocational schools, and she also asked relevant authorities to improve the Vocational Education Law.

Liu said she hopes that these measures will lead the public to have more respect for vocational education and vocational talent.

Vocational schools in China currently enroll an average of 10 million new students annually, and about 100 million people receive training in such schools each year.
