China and the United States should deepen pragmatic cooperation to keep Sino-US relations on the right track and better benefit people of the two countries as well as the world, Vice-Premier Liu Yandong said when she met Larry Hogan, governor of the US state of Maryland, in Beijing on June 1.

Liu said she hopes Maryland will continue to strengthen cooperation with China, as exchanges between US states or cities and Chinese provinces or cities are necessary in building a new type of great-power relationship between China and the United States.

Maryland values its relationship with China and is willing to increase cooperation with China and contribute to the healthy development of Sino-US relations, Hogan said.
