Talks focus on boosting cooperation with Kazakhstan

Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli held talks with the first Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev on Nov 6 in Beijing.

Emphasizing the importance of keeping high-level contacts, Zhang said the countries should strive to realize the consensus agreed on by the leaders of the two countries and promote cooperation in all fields between China and Kazakhstan.

Sagintayev said Kazakhstan was determined to deepen cooperation with China and maintain the fast-developing bilateral relationship.

According to a press release issued after the meeting, both countries will establish a joint working group to coordinate projects regarding the Belt and Road Initiative.

Both countries agreed to speed up the pace of cooperation in the production capacity sector, including expanding new areas of cooperation and financial support, the press release said.

They also promised to study and solve problems regarding agricultural imports and exports, inspection procedures and quarantine as well as the transportation sector to achieve balanced trade, the press release said.

Cooperation will be boosted to promote connectivity, including roads and other infrastructure projects.

China will use the Astana World Expo in 2017 as a good opportunity to improve people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, the press release added.
