Vice-Premier Liu Yandong lauded Northern Ireland’s effort to promote ties with China while meeting with its First Minister Arlene Foster in East China’s Shanghai on Dec 6.

Liu hoped Northern Ireland can continue to be active in the “golden age” of China-UK ties by promoting cooperation with stakeholders in China and cultural exchanges.

Foster said Northern Ireland will make more efforts to boost cooperation with China and make contributions to China-UK ties.

She was in Shanghai for the fourth meeting of the China-UK High-Level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism, being held this week.

As an integral part of ministerial-level exchanges between the two countries, the China-UK High-Level People-to-People Exchange meeting covers topics such as education, science, healthcare, tourism, sports, cultural creative industry, youth exchange and gender equality.
