Vice-Premier Wang Yang urged setting aside land for production of grain and cash crops, as he addressed a video conference on June 6.
Establishing protection areas for rice, wheat and corn and cash crops such as soybeans, cotton, rapeseed, sugar cane and natural rubber is a crucial measure to promote agricultural supply-side structural reform, Wang said.
The arrangement should be completed in three years, and all the designated land should be upgraded into high-quality, high-yield farmland within five years, he added.
“We should promote advanced and green agricultural technology and encourage large-scale business entities to enhance productivity,” the vice-premier said.
