Vice-Premier Liu Yandong, while attending an inter-ministerial conference on national fitness on Dec 24, fully affirmed commendable progress attained in the construction of public services systems at all levels, and the physical quality and fitness of the whole population.

National fitness, deriving from the overarching demands for happiness of the Chinese people, deserves more attention and exertion. Therefore, a boom in sports should be facilitated at full capacity, said Liu.

In the meantime, Liu added, the realization of national fitness also calls for sound facilities, scientific guidance, cultural support, and exhilarating mass physical activities. As the related public service systems develop and valid supplies expand, all-around advancements should be made to implement the “Healthy China” strategy.

Liu also pressed the sports authorities to go all-out on their fulfillment in organizing the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Games, preparing for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and revamping its administration.
