Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua held a meeting on poverty relief this month, stressing the commitment to surmounting any difficulties within three years.
Hu said that specific and targeted poverty-relief measures should be laid out as China enters the final stage of the nation’s poverty-alleviation movement.
The efforts should focus assistance to extremely poor regions, develop industry based on local resources, ensure employment of exported labor, guarantee housing conditions in relocation, and coordinate work between western and eastern regions, Hu said.
He also called for efforts to improve the social security network, and stoke the aspiration of poverty-stricken people to make progress on their own.
It also involves optimized personnel structure in poverty relief, detailed support measures, improved supervision mechanism, and severe punishment for any illegal activities, he said.
