President Xi Jinping’s special envoy Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan attended the opening ceremony of the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia, on Aug 18.

Her attendance shows the Chinese government’s support of Asian sports and Indonesia’s hosting the Asian Games, which was appreciated by the Olympic Council of Asia and Indonesian government.

In this Asian Games, 11,300 athletes from 45 countries and regions will compete in 40 sports.

It is the second time Indonesia is hosting the Asian Games.
