Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua chaired a meeting on Aug 27 to discuss the flooding situation and deploy flood and typhoon relief works.
Hu said the flood and typhoon situation remains severe in the coming days, so we should keep up the risk prevention work and make sure that people’s life and property are safe.
The government should organize rescue work promptly when floods arrive, make all-out efforts to search for missing people, resettle those who are affected by the flooding, safeguard their basic livelihood and carry out post-disaster recovery and reconstruction in an orderly manner, he said.
The government should publish accurate information about the alert system, make effective preparations for emergencies and improve reservoir operations, he said.
He also urged timely disclosure of the flood situation and relief information, and proper responses to social concerns.
State Councilor Wang Yong also addressed the meeting.
