Leading a division from the central delegation, Vice-Premier Sun Chunlan on Dec 12 visited local people in the city of Qinzhou, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

She visited a China-Malaysia industrial park, expressing her hope that the park can be actively involved in the Belt and Road Initiative by pushing forward high-end, intelligent and green industry.

At Huibaoyuan Drug Company, Sun was informed about its R&D of new drugs and market development. She encouraged the company to enhance technological innovation and bring into play traditional Chinese medicine, to contribute to the treatment of tumors.

Sun fully affirmed the efforts made by the Qinzhou bonded port, before heading to Beibu Gulf University, where she talked with teachers and students from various ethnic groups, and urged the school to train more professional talent with its own features.

At the Nixing pottery museum, Sun emphasized the importance of cultural relics’ study and protection, adding that more creative cultural products should be developed to keep traditional culture alive.

Sun also met representatives from all walks of life and attended a symposium to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the autonomous region. She applauded the great achievements made by Qinzhou people over the years, while deploying more tasks for future development.

According to the vice-premier, Qinzhou should push forward opening-up cooperation of higher level and wider range, constantly enhance the quality and efficiency of its sea economy, improve people’s lives, give priority to education, strive to meet people’s needs on medical care and basic public service, and guard national solidarity.
