Hu Chunhua, vice-premier and head of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, conducted an inspection at the office on Jan 2, 2019.

Hu called for following President Xi Jinping’s guidelines on poverty alleviation in his New Year speech, and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to ensure the alleviation target is met.

Winning the anti-poverty war is a basic task to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects, Hu said. Efforts should be strengthened to implement poverty reduction policies, and to allocate more resources to poverty-stricken areas.

In addition, supervision and guidance on the poverty alleviation frontline should be intensified. Problems in combating poverty should be identified and addressed, he added.

Hu said that, as the vanguard in alleviating poverty, the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development should carry out effective work in the first quarter, for a good start to 2019.
