Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua inspected the refurbishment work of shanty areas during a trip in Hebei province, Beijing and Tianjin on Jan 8.
The vice-premier’s inspection took in agricultural manors, agricultural tourist parks, and agricultural bases in Chenfu county in Hebei province, Yujiawu county in Beijing, and Shigezhuang county in Tianjin.
He inspected the dismantlement of lawless, non-agricultural facilities, shantytown renovations, as well as the rehabilitation of farmlands.
He urged that relevant departments should fulfill their responsibilities of in-depth investigation, renovation, and strengthened accountability, in a bid to conclude efficiently shantytown renovations and curb arbitrary use of farmlands for other purposes.
Senior officials should take care of shantytown refurbishment in person, he said, in a bid to guarantee an implementation of all related policies.
Dragnet and on-site investigations should be established, along with strengthened supervision by the public. Departments concerned should crack down on lawless behavior in this regard, legally punish liable entities, and restore agricultural production.
Additionally officials concerned will be held accountable for neglect of duty, inaction, poor performance, and breaches of laws and disciplines.
Boundary lines should be accurately set on shantytown renovation with related policies publicized to all, in a bid to uphold an orderly society.
