BEIJING — Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua called for more efforts on the effective prevention of and control over African swine fever to ensure a stable pork supply.
Hu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks on Feb 26 when presiding over a specialized meeting on the prevention and control of the disease.
Hu said the situation remained very grave and it was a pressing task to intensify control efforts.
Hu called for strengthened supervision over pig farms, transport links and pork plants to ensure that all control efforts were firmly implemented.
